This is an excellent novel for the ALIS project because it is rich with symbolism and motif. The author's limited use of figurative language is also definitely worth mentioning. The literary devices practically jump off the page at you, begging you to write about them.

I liked this book because it is very simple to read (no shakespearian translation), and like Mrs. Passwaters said, it is chalk full of symbolism, motifs, lessons, etc.
There is a bare bones amount of research info out there about this book. you can get by with it, but over all you might be better off chosing another book. Afterall, those motifs and symbols are useless in your paper unless you find a literay critic to back you up.
